OEM: our platform, your brand
OEM takes a proven platform and puts your brand on it — colourway, badging, packaging, documentation. Because the engineering and certification already exist, the route is fast and the commitment is small: from 100 units, with production in roughly four to eight weeks.
It is the right call when you are validating a market, filling a catalogue gap, or want a dependable product without carrying development risk. The trade is design control — you are choosing from what the platform already does well.
ODM: engineered to your brief
ODM starts from your specification. Deck geometry, controller behaviour, battery format, IoT integration — the parts that make the product distinctly yours get engineered and certified as a new configuration. That depth costs time and volume: from 500 units, over roughly four to seven months.
It is the right call when the product is your differentiator, not just your logo, and when the volume justifies the up-front engineering.
How to choose
The honest test is not "which is better" — it is "what is scarce for you right now". If time-to-shelf and low commitment are scarce, OEM wins. If a distinctive product is the whole point and you have the volume, ODM earns its longer runway.
Both routes run through the same partnership flow — Discovery, Sampling, Certification, Scale — so the decision is about depth, not about a different relationship.
