Riding Experience with the E-scooter GT1S LITE in an Australian Town

I’ve been riding this little scooter for three weeks now and am growing fonder of it by the day. It’s perfect for short-distance commutes and helps me build road awareness and familiarize myself with traffic rules before getting my driver’s license. Riding out on sunny days brings me so much joy. I keep it in the garage at home and lock it to a railing under surveillance when I go to shopping malls—it feels pretty secure.

Usage Scenarios:
Daily commute between school and home (1.5 km one way)
Grocery shopping (about 3.5 km one way)
Leisurely rides exploring the neighborhood

Drive System:
It comes with electric assist that activates when you pedal, offering three speed levels. On flat roads, a higher gear means faster speed. It can handle slopes up to about 35° without much effort as long as it’s already moving.
Range on Full Charge:
I usually ride in level 2 and switch to level 3 for uphill climbs. It can go about 60 km on a full charge. If you don’t adjust the speed for 5 seconds, it maintains a steady pace.
Additional Features:
It has a built-in light that helps with visibility after sunset, though the beam is somewhat limited—I haven’t tried it in complete darkness. The attached basket is handy for light shopping and doesn’t affect the ride.
Requirements for Riding:
A helmet is a must. I also recommend using a lock. Accessories like phone holders may not be available at local bike shops—mine is being shipped from China (still on the way).
Is it legal to ride an electric-assist scooter in Australia, and will I be stopped?
In Australia, electric-assist scooters with pedals generally aren’t checked if they meet these conditions:
The motor power must not exceed 250W.
The motor should only assist when you pedal and must not have a throttle that moves the scooter forward without pedaling.
